Who am I?

I am Amanda; although I’m a pure and applied science student in college and I’m a technician in a pharmacy, what truly define me are the facts that I’m a passionate swing dancer, that I love music, that I’m curious about designing and that I dream to travel around the world.

Since I adore swing dancing, I decided to found the Marianopolis Swing Dance Club at Marianopolis College in 2006, and am still managing it. Moreover, I have started to teach recently at Cat’s Corner Studio, Montreal. After nearly 10 years of piano playing, I stopped and changed to singing. From 2005 to 2006, I was soprano in the A Capella Choir of Collège Jean de la Mennais, La Prairie.

I have always been fascinated by the world’s different cultures and enjoy learning languages. Places I dream to visit are Japan, Europe and more of China. Here’s a fun fact: I collect rocks from around the world; I want a piece of everywhere in the world in my room. =) I speak fluent English, French and Chinese (Cantonese & Mandarin), and have taken courses of Spanish, Japanese and German. Thus, feel free to comment in any language you like! (I will have fun decoding your messages.)

So why “shoeBox”?

Since I was a child, I developed the habit to store memorable little items in shoe boxes. I put in birthday cards, Christmas cards, letters that my friends have written to me, pictures, small paper crafts, rocks, etc. Since I will talk about a vast range of things that are of interest to me in my blog, I decided to call it my shoeBox.

Feel free to contact me by e-mail at or reach me on Facebook (look for Amanda Fong in the Marianopolis College or Montreal, QC networks).
