I wish I were the Sugar Plum Fairy

Ever since the Christmas decorations have taken over the place of the Halloween decorations, I have been very excited about this Holidays season. One of my biggest treat for myself will be a ticket to see “The Nutcracker” presented by Les Grands Ballets canadiens. I have been watching “The Nutcracker” on TV every Holidays seasons for as long as I can remember. I will finally get to see it live!

“The Nutcracker” is a Christmas fairy tale ballet based on “The Nutcracker and the Mouse King” by German author Hoffmann with the music composed by Tchaikovsky. The story is about a little girl named Clara who receives a handsome nutcracker prince from a mysterious toy maker on Christmas Eve. Jealous of the present, her brother Fritz breaks it. Worried about her prince, Clara sneaks out of bed at night to check up on him and falls asleep under the majestic Christmas tree…

Here’s the “Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy”, performed by Ekaterina Maximova in the Ballet of Bolshoi, Russia.

Here’s the “Waltz of the Flowers”, perfomed by the Kirov Ballet Troupe, Saint-Petersbourgh, Russia.

Le ballet est une belle danse, mais beaucoup trop exigente selon moi! Je connais pleins de gens qui ont abandonné leurs cours. C’est dommage tout de même!
